This week I published my first proper YouTube video. It’s not perfect – in fact, it’s a bit crap – but I loved making it. The project itself was a smart home hack to track traffic outside my house using Frigate, Node-RED, InfluxDB and Grafana, but the real surprise was how much fun I had with the whole video-making process. Editing was messy, my Mac fought me every step of the way, and yet I walked away buzzing. I think I might actually be a YouTuber now.

You’re told to post daily, engage constantly, and craft a personal brand to stand out on LinkedIn. But between spam bots, content farming, and the creeping suspicion that half your audience isn’t even human, the whole thing starts to feel hollow. Welcome to the absurd reality of job hunting on LinkedIn in 2025.

What if the internet never existed? Where would you be? WHO would you be? Here is an alternate history of my life if the internet had never existed.

In my last post, I mentioned that one of my year goals was to marry my wonderful girlfriend. I also said that it wasn't going to happen this year as we had neither the time nor the money to have a wedding.

Today is the day. Today the people of the United Kingdom can vote to change the future of the country for the better (hopefully) but unlike elections of the past, the outcome of this one is being considered too close to call. We have the Internet to thank for that.

I'm officially a Londoner!

Anyone who says a dog is a man’s best friend never met Puddles. She was the most unique cat I've ever had the pleasure to know. Sadly last night she finally succumbed to her heart condition and had to be put to sleep. I miss her terribly and nobody will ever replace her. Let me tell you a bit about her.
